Willie Nelson just turned 90, which means it’s time for a grand celebration! The legendary rocker has been belting out country and blues rock staples since the ‘50s, and he’s still going strong. In fact, Willie Nelson and Family are among the most prolific performers touring America right now, and they’re showing no signs of stopping. Since emerging in 1956, Nelson has lived his life on the road. The Abbott-born singer-songwriter has released several hits, including “Beers for My Horses,” “On the Road Again,” “Highwayman,” “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys,” and many more. Moreover, he has produced and dropped 99 studio albums, 12 of which have earned platinum or multi-platinum in the U.S. In 1978, Nelson released his best-selling effort, Stardust, which sold over five million copies and earned a five-time platinum certification. These incredible achievements starkly contrast Nelson’s early music days when he tried to sell “Mr. Record Man” for ten Dollars to music producer Larry Birdman.
Today, Nelson is regarded as one of the most influential personalities in music. As the leading purveyor of the outlaw movement, Nelson has been cited as an influence by renowned music artists, such as Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Lyle Lovett, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, and many more. Moreover, Nelson’s almost seven-decade career has resulted in 40 million albums sold in the U.S. and numerous accolades, including 15 Grammy Awards, 10 Music Association Awards, and eight American Music Awards, among others.
This 2023, he brings the monster tour, Outlaw Music Festival, across 30 cities and will feature a slew of modern rock artists. Folk rock powerhouse The Avett Brothers is a Grammy-nominated band led by Scott and Seth Avett. The band released their major label debut album, I and Love and You, in 2009. The record broke into the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at number 16. The band has released a total of ten studio albums, including their latest effort, Closer Than Together, released in 2019.
The show in Oak Mountain will also feature progressive jam band Gov’t Mule and sensational country music singer-songwriter Elizabeth Cook. If you’re keen on catching these amazing artists on stage, you better hurry and score tickets now before they’re gone!
