Oak Mountain Amphitheatre is recognized far and wide as the go-spot to experience your favorite artist live, up close, and personal. Located in Birmingham, the world class venue stands tall as Alabama’s largest outdoor music venue. Opened in 1986, Oak Mountain Amphitheatre comfortably seats 10,500 people. Lovingly known as “Birmingham’s Favorite Concert Venue,” it’s constantly stunning audiences and packing out venues to capacity. Remember the Foo Fighters and The Pretty Wreckless’ sold out shows last year? They were iconic. And 2024 has been no different with world class artists, sold out shows, and audiences smiling from ear to ear.
The spring season opened with a bang in May with Hozier & Allison Russell. On 5 May, Hozier brought his extended and extremely popular Unreal Unearth Tour to Oak Mountain Amphitheatre. And it was legendary. The Irish “Eat Your Young” hitmaker delivered his tour namesake third studio album to the stage, and it was one of his best concerts to date. For the show, Hozier brought the talented Allison Russell along for the ride who also shared some of the latest material from her stunning new album, The Returner. May also saw Staind & Seether. Hailed as the ultimate rock concert of 2024, multi-platinum rock band Staind and good buddies Seether put on one heck of a show on 15 May! The Tailgate Tour was part of Staind’s ongoing reunion saga, and it didn’t disappoint.
The following month, none other than 21 Savage graced the stage. Riding on the high of his incredible (and unsurprising!!) Grammy win and Saturday Night Live interview, the rap prodigy brought the party to Oak Mountain Amphitheatre with an unforgettable live performance. The American Dream Tour came in celebration of 21 Savage’s latest opus of the same name. For the historic concert, he promoted fresh tracks on top of fan favorite smash hits like “Bank Account,” “No Heart,” and “Runnin’” – just to name a few! Joining the multi platinum rapper on stage was special guests J.I.D., Nardo Wick, and his very own best friend, 21 Lil Harold.
More legends arrived at the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in July including Hootie and The Blowfish, and Third Eye Blind, Yellowcard & Arizona. On 26 July, Hootie and The Blowfish relived their glory days with the Summer Camp with Trucks Tour. The American grunge band has two Grammys under their belt, and it came as no surprise with their show filled with their seventeen Billboard hits! If that wasn’t enough, special guests “I’ll Be” singer Edwin McCain and Georgia natives Collective Soul also rocked the stage, and it was awesome! On 28 July, Third Eye Blind brought heir fourth annual Summer Gods Tour to Birmingham. Alongside Yellowcard and A R I Z O N A, audiences sang the night away to all their favorite performers.
August saw a number of industry heavyweights take over the iconic Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, including Limp Bizkit (9 August), Creed, 3 Doors Down & Finger Eleven (14 August), Train & Yacht Rock Revue (16 August), and Stone Temple Pilots & Live (27 August). What’s more, August also saw everyone’s favorite doll come to life with a live rendition of the Barbie Movie (6 August). This was a totally unique and immersive show that boasted a full symphony orchestra who performed the incredible score while the movie played on a massive LED screen. Spearheaded by the Tony Award-winner Macy Schmidt, The Barbie Land Sinfonietta performed hits from the popular movie, such as “Barbie World,” “WATATI,” “Dance The Night,” and “What Was I Made For?” – and many many more!
Fall will go down in history as the legendary Post Malone closed the 2024 season with a sold-out concert, touring his “F-1 Trillion” country album. The star performed all his greatest hits as well as newer material like the number one chart-topper “I Had Some Help.” With an entertainment-filled year, 2024 was truly unforgettable! The year saw fans come from all over the world to see their favorite artists perform live. “I have been to a couple other amphitheater’s and I believe this one to be one of the cooler ones I’ve been to,” cheers one happy concert goer. “I had center seat tickets in the upper section and had an amazing panoramic view of the entire show,” raves another.
